"I was working long hours during a particularly difficult tax season and was frantic about what to do about a sitter for our precious dog, Koukla. I looked in the phone book and found the doggie daycare closest to work. It was a lucky day for Koukla and for me that the nearest daycare happened to be Doggie Pause. I immediately loved Judy's knowledge of doggie behavior as well as her qualified and kind staff. Many years later, Koukla is no longer with us but his "doggie siblings" Bebe and Katie are lucky to get to go to Doggie Pause. And I no longer work near the daycare center--I drive many miles to get the dogs there, and it is worth the extra effort! Blessings to Judy and her wonderful staff for the peace of mind they give me."

Our Staff

The success Doggie Pause has enjoyed is due in no small part to an outstanding staff. They, too, love dogs, and dogs love them! (The reaction of the dogs to a prospective employee is the deciding factor in the hiring decision.)

Julie Ramsey shares management of the facility with Chelsea Lyall. Julie started with us in 2002, with experience in a dog breeding facility. She developed grooming skills working with several groomers, and now (along with her managerial duties) keeps a number of client dogs looking their best. Chelsea came to us in 2008 with excellent office skills, a background in dog rescue, and a strong desire to know more about dogs and dog issues. She is knowledgeable in nutrition, behavior modification and training issues, and is responsible for our Puppy Program - and Accounts Payable! These two share responsibility for hiring, training, and supervising staff, are experts in reading dog behavior, and routinely evaluate new dogs who have applied for admittance.

GOLD STANDARD ACCREDITED - We received Gold Standard Accreditation from the Colorado Association of Dog Daycares in 2010, and place great value on continuing education. The staff attends Pet First Aid classes and seminars on behavior and body language, as well as watching educational videos.

Our Retail

We keep a few toys on hand (more at Christmas) and some miscellaneous items like Placque Off and Pet Odor Eliminator, but our main retail emphasis is on food. We are passionate about feeding good food, and encourage our clients to become more knowledgeable regarding diet - whether they choose to feed a food we sell or not. The truth is there are now many excellent foods on the market. We can't stock them all, and we have chosen lines from Taste of the Wild, Bravo, Primal, and Northwest Naturals.

Our Affiliations

Judy has served on the board of directors of the Colorado Association of Dog Daycares since its inception, and helped develop the Gold Standard Accreditation program. This program certifies facilities who meet specific criteria re staff training and the evaluation of applicant dogs. We are extremely proud of the fact that Doggie Pause is one of the few to receive this accreditation, and we believe that your dog will benefit.

We work with rescue groups such as Safe Harbor Lab Rescue, Colorado Peke and Pom Rescue and The Misha May Foundation in the rehabilitation and placement of homeless dogs.
